Adoption isn't always oppressive, but maternal-child separation is always traumatic (I'm an adoptee). The complexities of transracial adoption add a profound layer of difficulty. Thank you for highlighting the nuance of it all.
Since 1972, the National Association of Black Social Workers has been opposed to transracial adoption. For 51 years, their position statement remains unchanged.
