I am an adopted person, relinquished at birth in 1968. My first mother and I carry the wounds of adoption trauma--she died one day before my 27th birthday, before I found her, telling no one about me. She could not take one more year of that day.

The magnitude of grief first mothers and adoptees carry is the essential thread of the adoption narrative, one that is rarely discussed.

Thank you for seeing us and joining the fight to change the false and harmful fairy-tale narrative.
