One parent lives alone, mentally sharp, spent quarantine cleaning out their house, has money and full coverage long term care insurance--arranging care is a breeze--taking care of them easy; one parent lives alone, has money but no ltc insurance, staggering medical issues and now cognitive ones, and wow caring for them hard; the other parent has a spouse but they have nothing, zero, bubkus, so we're paying for care and my god, the stress of it all.

The fourth parent is my father whom, otherwise healthy, dropped dead of an asthma attack at 67, when I was 28, and despite missing him, i am sure that is how I want to go out. For my sake and my children's.
