Thank you so much for reading and responding. My parents are the people who raised me, I love them and am grateful for them. One can bear the wounds of trauma and love the family who raised them, these things are not mutually exclusive. That’s the point I and other adoptees who speak about this issue are trying to make: talking about the pain and loss does not negate our love, or in many cases gratitude.

I got my first TV writing job at 48, took 26 years to find my birth family. It’s never too late, you’re never too old. Keep going.
